Christening
Christening is a religious and very special event.
Traditionally christening, that is often referred to as baptism, is a ritual involving the use of water and admitting a person as a member of the Church.
Very often baptism is not associated with faith as much but happens as a family event when friends and family members gather together to celebrate the arrival of a new bundle of joy. Sometimes it is not required to attend the church on a regular basis. These days it may be possible to have a child baptised even though the parents only go to church a few times a year, on Christmas and Easter. However some churches will require you and your child to attend the church on a regular basis before baptising and after.
Traditionally christening ceremony is conducted at a church by a priest or minister. The baby wears beautiful christening clothing, and family members surround the infant as witnesses of the holly event.
