At Baby Castle we have excellent news for all train lovers. Young or old, if you love trains, especially if you are a fan of the Thomas and Friends TV series, this news is for you.

Thomas & Friends™ has announced that Saturday, November 6, 2010, it will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record™ for the Longest Toy Train Track. The event will take place at the Workshops Rail Museum, North Street, North Ipswich, QLD.

Thomas & Friends™ is a British children's television series with the first ever episode "Thomas and Gordon" aired on 4 September 1984, on the British terrestrial channel ITV broadcast on the ITV network in September 1984.

It is based on The Railway Series of books by the Reverend W. V. Awdry and his son Christopher Awdry and deal with the adventures of a group of trains and road vehicles who live on the fictional Island of Sodor.

On the 6 of November Thomas the Tank Engine™ will try to set a new Guinness World Record™ - make the longest toy train track.

The Thomas & Friends™ track will be built using more than 10,000 Fisher-Price® TRACKMASTER™ pieces and will measure an amazing 2,104 kilometers, making it 364 meters longer than the current record which is held by Japan.

The toy train track has been engineered using 10,197 pieces of track, includes 40 Thomas & Friends engines, 40 stations, and will wind its way past some of Australia’s most famous landmarks - the Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge, Uluru, Flinders Street Station and Kangaroo Island.

The record-breaking toy train track will be on display to the general public at The Workshops Rail Museum on Saturday 6th of November, so all the Thomas and Friends fans are invited to join in the celebration!

With a steam train ride behind Puffing Billy, meeting The Fat Controller, patting baby animals at Animal Nursery, enjoying the Jumping Castle and Face Painting this will be a great day out for all the family!
